VAWG Projects Officer

Are you a collaborative and values-driven professional with experience of domestic abuse, safeguarding and partnership working? This is an opportunity to play an important role in Islington’s response to Violence Against Women and Girls, helping coordinate multi-agency action that reduces harm, strengthens accountability and keeps survivors and their families safe.

Our VAWG and Youth Safety Commissioning team is developing an integrated, trauma-informed approach to preventing violence and abuse, supporting effective safeguarding and improving outcomes for individuals and families affected by domestic abuse.

As VAWG Projects Officer, you will work within Islington’s Daily Safeguarding Service and coordinate the High Harm and Multiple Disadvantage partnership response. You will help support structured violence prevention intervention work with people who use abusive behaviours, ensuring survivor safety and safeguarding remain central to all activity.

You will coordinate panel processes, support partnership response plans, follow up actions agreed through the Daily Safeguarding Meeting and High Harm and Multiple Disadvantage MDT, and work alongside partners including IDVA services, social care, health, police, probation, housing and education. The role will be delivered in line with Respect standards and Islington’s trauma-informed practice model.

We are looking for someone who can bring:

• Experience of working with domestic abuse cases and supporting actions that address abusive behaviour while prioritising the safety of victims/survivors and their families.
• Experience of liaising with children’s and adults’ social care, health, police, probation and voluntary sector partners in the context of domestic abuse.
• The ability to coordinate risk management actions, use risk assessments effectively and support clear, timely follow-up from multi-agency meetings.
• A strong understanding of intimate partner violence, patterns of abusive behaviour, safeguarding risks and the impact on adult victims, children and wider family members.
• Confidence using trauma-informed practice to plan engagement with people who may be hard to reach or likely to disengage, including those experiencing multiple disadvantage.
• Excellent communication, partnership, record-keeping and ICT skills, including the ability to present time-sensitive information clearly in multi-agency settings.

You will be part of the VAWG and Youth Safety Commissioning team within Young Islington, reporting to the VAWG Operational Manager. You will work closely with colleagues across the council and with statutory and non-statutory partners to support coordinated responses for families affected by domestic abuse.

This is a flexible/frontline role with a healthy balance of working from home and attending the office. There is an expectation of one day per week in the office, with the postholder managing their own time and using office-based time to support partnership building.
